In life, you take the best out of what you get. That’s how the world works.

I’m not even going to watch this because Bill Maher is a horse’s ass. And I consider myself liberal. Maher is the shithead liberal version of Tucker Carlson. He’s as much of the problem as anybody.

THANK YOU! He’s such an assbag and he needs to shut the hell up.

You better watch the video. And embrace reality. Unless you wanna be stuck with the KFC addicted Oompa Loompa until 2024, because that’s how the caboose part of America got the WH and the Senate. You won’t agree with everyone on everything, but going for the guy that shares the most common ground with you, is the best way to go, next to running yourself.

Vote for who you like, as long as it has actual chances of winning. And dont sabotage someone because they’re not your perfect candidate. Especially when the alternative is orange Mussolini.

twitler wouldnt have happened if stupid people werent allowed to vote

Some of the faults with candidates that people are harping on are legit issues though. Namely if it’s too easy for the other side to pigeonhole that candidate with that issue. Gotta pick someone who can win.
I don’t care that Kamala Harris was a prosecutor. But s he mistakenly believes Medicare-for-all means legislating the health insurance companies out of business. The only way Medicare-for-all will work is if it’s a guaranteed minimum level of coverage for everyone and the private health insurance industry is forced to provide something of value if it wants to continue to exist. Harris’ and others version that eliminates private insurance entirely is not only the wrong idea, it’s too easily tarred and feathered as EVIL SOCIALISM.
Elizabeth Warren’s economic policies are great and the whole native american thing is stupid but it’s never going to go away if she’s the nominee.

If I understand right Po pular vote was Hillary by a thin margin and it was the electoral College that voted trump (people who theoretically have educations )

I consider myself a conservative/libertarian and I disagree with this take on Tucker “Resting Bitch Face” Carlson. Bill Maher is a fake intellectual who plays holier-than-thou and Tucker is just a useless troll with nothing to add to a conversation.

Which party whines and cries and whines about the media constantly like a high- drama wide receiver yelling at the referees? It ain’t the Democratic one.

Totally agree, but there’s also a lot of daily (or more) political posting on oppo for a different political persuasion that doesn't get told to take it elsewhere....

Popular vote was 65,845,063 for Hillary vs. 62,980,160 for Trump.
The electoral college has never really functioned as intended, and really should be removed (which would be basically impossible in today’s political climate, but still less impossible than fixing it to work as intended).

I find it amazing how little the electoral college is brought up when people talk about presidential elections. Saying things like,”Well we voted him in so deal with it” its just wrong because we didn’t directly.

We really don’t know who a chance of winning. That;s the whole point of the primary process. Going back to 1999 I believe only Hillary in 2015, Kerry in 2003, and Gore in 1999 were non-incumbent frontrunners for their party’s nomination (note: none of them won). The notion that having to compete weakens the candidate makes some logical sense, but as a practical matter, seems only to be an issue for weak candidates.
Regardless, I’d rather have ranked choice voting, so we didn’t need any sort of election gamesmanship like we do now.

Most receive a buffer title and/or buffer line, this has neither. Just a scorching hot, sweeping take.
Further, imo, all content of this nature from either side should be posted to CL or maybe someone’s crappy facebook feed.

Thats the bulk of their platform though.

Totally agree on both accounts. I don't come to oppo for troll baiting politics. I've been here a lot less due to it.

Bill Maher is gun owner who is outspoken for his support of Israel, believes muslims should be profiled as a national security measure and used to consider himself a libertarian. The glaring difference between him an Carlson is Maher’s viewers know they’re watching a comedian...or maybe not.

News you watch on television, yes. There’s plenty of good reporting still going on out there, but you have to actually use your brain to digest it.

What you say in this comment is true, but what ttyymmnn says is also true.
Also, for the most part, it’s not “ democrats” that are the problem, it’s those who lean more progressive.

I think that’s the party motto.

In late 2011, Trump was placed next to the “the rent is too damn high” guy.
Considered a joke, the worst possible candidate, and then he wins in ‘16.
Moral of the story: who the hell knows anything anymore?

Harris’ history with Willie Brown has to be the bigger concern.
Klobuchar is the pragmatist of the field - we’ll see where that gets her.
